DOWNEY, CA – Three California Highway Patrol officers were injured after a collision in Downey early Thursday morning, KTLA reports.
The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of the 105 freeway around 1:30 a.m.
The officers were using their vehicle to close a traffic lane in response to an earlier accident when they were struck by an SUV travelling 90 miles per hour.
After the collision, the SUV flipped and the CHP vehicle burst into flames.
One of the officers suffered serious injuries and the other two sustained moderate injuries. All three were hospitalized.
The woman driving the SUV was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
