WINNETKA, CA – A high-speed crash in Winnetka left three people dead and seven injured on Saturday night, KTLA reports.
The three-vehicle collision occurred near the intersection of Vanowen Street and Corbin Avenue around 9 p.m.
The accident was caused by a dark-colored Ford Explorer that lost control as it travelling east on Vanowen. Police believe the Explorer was travelling close to 70 MPH in a 35 MPH zone.
The out-of-control Explorer entered the westbound lanes and struck a Toyota Tacoma before rolling over and crashing into a third vehicle.
Three passengers in the Explorer were not wearing seat belts and died after being ejected from the vehicle. The fourth passenger was wearing a seat belt and sustained minor injuries.
The four people in the Tacoma and two people in the other vehicle were also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
None of the victims have been identifed at this time.
