Hit-and-run leaves Bakersfield teen seriously injured

BAKERSFIELD, CA – A teenage boy was struck by a vehicle in east Bakersfield and suffered critical injures on Tuesday morning, KGET reports.

The 16-year-old victim was riding his skateboard in the intersection of Niles Street and Brentwood when he was struck by a vehicle around 6 a.m. The vehicle responsible fled the scene.

A driver who came by later found the victim laying in the center median and called 911. He was airlifted to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera where neurologists suspect he is brain-dead.

Police are searching for the vehicle involved.
